Creating a Democracy for the End of the World

Exploring power and participation in Northern Ireland: can we build a movement for new, more participatory democratic spaces?

FRIDAY 28TH MARCH

12:30PM – 3:00PM

FREE ADMISSION

Join us for an interactive conversation about what a democracy based on mutual care, ecological protection and shared power really looks like.

Democracy is under threat. Our existing institutions aren’t delivering what people need. Centralised, top-down power is failing to find the kinds of solutions we need for the world we find ourselves in – rife with conflict, rising totalitarianism, unaccountable governments, and an accelerating climate emergency. Something has to change, and time is running out.

For 20 years, Involve has been thinking about how we can do democracy better. We’ve innovated with new practices like citizens assemblies, and watched as alternative ideas about what democracy can be, move from fringe ideas to mainstream practices. We have lots of ideas for better ways of being human together, and you probably do too. Bring them along to this relaxed, interactive, workshop and let’s create a democracy for the end of the world (as we know it).
