Beidh deis ina dhiaidh ceisteanna a chur agus faill ag cainteoirí Gaeilge de gach leibhéal éisteacht is bheith páirteach.

An evening of talks about the traditions of Ireland, in the Irish language, with two artistes from the Donegal Gaeltacht.

This will be followed by a question and answer session. An opportunity for speakers of all levels of Irish to come along to listen and engage.

Join award-winning sean-nós singer Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde for a talk that will explore the origins of sean-nós singing and how it developed through the centuries. He will look at how the bardic tradition of poetry has influenced sean-nós by analyzing bardic styles in various songs. He will also consider the influence that harping has had on sean-nós. This talk will be illuminated with some performance and singing by Doimnic to hear first-hand how sean-nós singing has developed through the years.

Léifidh an scríbhneoir Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde sleachta as a shaothar, idir ghearrscéalta agus splanc-fhicsean nuachumtha. Tá dhá chnuasach gearrscéalta scríofa ag Mac Giolla Bhríde; Idir Feoil is Leathar agus Díbeartaigh. I 2015 d’aistrigh sé An Prionsa Beag (Le Petit Prince) le Antoine de Saint-Exupéry agus i 2016 bhí sé mar eagarthóir ar an leabhar Tomhas Orm, Tomhas Ort!, bailiúchán tomhasanna traidisiúnta. Tá sé ag obair ar a thríú bhailiúchán gearrscéalta agus is as an tsaothar seo a bheas sé ag rannt a chuid scéalta linn.

Writer Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde will read from a selection of his work, from short stories to flash fiction pieces. Mac Giolla Bhríde has penned two collections of short stories, Idir Feoil is Leathar and Díbeartaigh published by Coiscéim. In 2015 he translated An Prionsa Beag (Le Petit Prince) by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and in 2016 he was the editor of Tomhas Orm, Tomhas Ort! – a collection of traditional Irish riddles. He’s currently working on his third collection of short stories and it’s from this collection that he will share some of his new works.
