Common Grounds Café, University Avenue
13th March: 12.00pm – 2.00pm
This event will allow three speakers, one a refugee, one an asylum-seeker and one a representative of a new community, to describe their experience of life in Northern Ireland.
Representatives from the new organisation, Belfast City of Sanctuary, will help introduce the event and open it up to discussion.
Belfast City of Sanctuary is a coalition of people native to the city and those who have arrived from other places. Its aim is to make the city open, hospitable and welcoming to refugees, asylum-seekers and those from new communities. It also exists in order to help give voice to people who are new arrivals and to create opportunities for dialogue. This event will be part of that process.
