Has the Good Friday Agreement Failed our Generation?
The signing of the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement is widely seen as the end point of the Troubles, but Northern Ireland is still plagued by political instability. As we mark the 25th anniversary of its signing, it is time to ask: has it delivered for the next generation?

This debate will take place using the Literific’s traditional debating format. There will be a vote on the motion followed by 7-minute speeches from both sides. Audience members will have the opportunity to intervene during the speeches by saying ‘on that point,’ but it is at the discretion of the speaker whether they accept or decline.

After the speeches from a range of leading speakers, questions will be taken from the audience followed by a vote on the motion — This House believes the Good Friday Agreement has failed our generation.

Founded in 1850, the Literific is the official debating society at Queen’s University Belfast. The Society aims to promote the skills of debate and public speaking throughout the University and beyond. The Literific hosts weekly debates throughout the year on a variety of topics.
