The Vault, Tower Street
25th March: 6.00pm

Launch of an exhibition of photographic prints taken at over 20 different bonfire sites in the past 5 years. With John Baucher, Cliff McKibben and Philip Orr.

Over the past five years photographers John Baucher and Cliff McKibben have visited over 20 different bonfire sites in Belfast. ‘Home Turf’ is a collaborative photographic examination of the annual July 11th night bonfire culture. With two distinct styles, this exhibition and the individual photographic responses are intended as a deeper more considered counter to the broad stroke depiction of the bonfire culture. The exhibition will be formally launched on 25 March at 6pm and followed at 7.00pm by a debate on the history of loyalist bonfire culture. The exhibition runs from 26th March – 7th April. And is open Tuesday-Friday 12 pm – 5.00pm and on Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm.

A workshop will follow the launch at 7pm and will be facilitated by Philip Orr, who will give a talk on the history of the bonfires in Belfast and in a global context looking at fire culture around the world. Gareth Mulvenna and Beano Niblick will also participate in a panel discussion/talk after Philip’s presentation.
