22nd March: from 7.00pm

Secretly filmed in Iran by women and men who risked arrest to make the film, Nasrin is an immersive portrait of one of the world’s most courageous human rights activists and political prisoners, Nasrin Sotoudeh.

Available on QFT Player from 7.00pm on Monday 22nd March – free to watch for 24 hours.

Featuring narration from Academy Award-winning actress Olivia Colman, Nasrin highlights Sotoudeh’s long record of fighting for the rights of women, children, LGBT prisoners, religious minorities, journalists and artists, and those facing the death penalty in Iran. Arrested in June 2018 for representing women who were protesting Iran’s mandatory hijab law, Sotoudeh was sentenced to 38 years in prison, plus 148 lashes.

Jeff Kaufman’s film shows how Sotoudeh’s resilience and deep conviction has made her an international symbol of hope and revealed the impact women can have on shaping society.

“Nasrin Sotoudeh is an extraordinarily brave woman. I urge you to see this timely and important film!” Margaret Atwood, Author
