Visit Belfast, 9 Donegall Square North
28th March: 1.00pm – 4.00pm

When people talk of the lost industries of Belfast, seldom does the Whiskey trade get mentioned but its influence was far reaching and lasting.

Join Sunday Life whiskey reviewer and Blue badge guide Marty McAuley on a walk around the city exploring this history and then try a little sampling at the end!

The tour lasts approximately three hours and consists of an hour and a half walking tour exploring the impact the whiskey trade had on Belfast, and further afield, followed by an hour and a half in the comfort of the oldest building in Belfast, McHugh’s, for a trio of local whiskies with food pairings.

Irish whiskey is the fastest growing premium drink in the world and is currently experiencing a renaissance not seen in two hundred years. Whiskey has for a long time played a part, both here and abroad, in framing our politics. Did you know the first uprising in the, then newly independent, USA was the Whiskey rebellion, and led by many who came from Ulster? Join this tour to find out more about this fascinating history and sample this wonderful product.
