the humble wood pellet has been having a bad time of it recently so we thought we should rehabilitate it by running a public participation event in its honour…

So, with our tongues firmly in our cheeks, here’s our 2019 competition: we’d like you all to make models and artefacts using wood pellets and send us photos of your creations to display on our Instagram page.

If you’re lucky enough to have a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) boiler to hand, you should have plenty of spare pellets to work with. If not, wood pellet cat litter is the same thing and will serve nicely as the basis of your ‘Cash for Ash’ creation.

A panel of judges including the artist Rita Duffy and Sarah Corbett, founder of the Craftism Collective, will select the most interesting exhibits for display during the festival. A prize of £200 will be presented to the winning pellet artist.

The deadline for submission is 5.00pm on Friday 15th March 2019.
