In a life-changing journey across India, Irish monk-turned-moviemaker Ravinol Chambers encounters collisions between traditional and progressive expectations for young women. Just as he begins to understand the barriers facing girls in education, he realises that progress can only be made if young men also acknowledge gendered inequalities and if they too become involved in creating change.
The articulate, hopeful voices of the young women in this powerful film are nothing short of inspirational. The film also considers if education will ensure true equality, equipping young women with the tools to realise their intellectual potential or, are there further barriers to overcome?
The production company behind the film is Be Inspired Films. They are passionate about stories that inspire us to embrace our diversity and find connection despite our differences.
We’re delighted to be joined by the director Ravinol Chambers who will be part of a Q&A after the screening.
“The voices of girls and young women in this movie remind us of the urge and urgency for equality and education right now. It also beautifully highlights working with men and boys as an important step towards change.” Malala Yousafzai, Activist and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate
