Storytelling as activism

Storytelling as activism
A discussion and workshop with Amanda Verlaque.

TUESDAY 19TH MARCH

1:00PM – 2:00PM

Accidental Theatre, 12-13 Shaftesbury Square, Belfast

£5/£3

What happens when we encounter injustice? There are traditional routes to righting wrongs, although the outcome is often less than satisfactory. When we look to the arts, we discover that creatives have always been telling stories that pique our imagination and stir our sense of morality and empathy.

This Sh*t Happens All the Time was written in response to a homophobic hate crime. The process was cathartic for both audiences and writer when it was first staged at The Lyric Theatre as a co-production with Imagine! 2022.

Returning now to The Studio at the Grand Opera House from 22nd to 30th March, Amanda Verlaque will use her play to guide us through the importance of recording and sharing LGBTQIA+ stories to maintain visibility and encourage justice.
