We know our economy is destroying our planet because we are breaching so many ecological boundaries. Current economic policies are driving society into deeper wealth and income inequalities. And yet we cling to a model of the economy which creates the damage, believing there is no alternative. Well, imagine a society in which …

  • Cooperation – rather than competition – is the ruling principle.
  • People’s need for food, energy and shelter are met.
  • All have a stable source of income to pay for our needs.
  • Creativity is encouraged, and the means are available to develop the gifts we have.
  • The gifts of nature are fostered, rather than damaged.
  • Work is seen as a way of using our talents, not primarily an obligation.
  • Our cities, towns and rural areas are a source of pleasure, not ugliness and dereliction.

This alternative society is possible, and we can make it happen. Let’s begin with an agreement that the task of the economy is to provide the institutions and the means to make this society a reality.

Come and join us for a lively session that will get you thinking with writer, activist and author of Enough is Plenty, Anne B Ryan and facilitator Maurice McCartney. There will be an opportunity through workshop discussions to expand on themes raised and show a route towards that better future.

NB. Please note change of venue.
