Following on from the ‘Forgotten Spaces’ project in our last festival, Imagine! is partnering with Urban Scale Interventions (USI) and the European Creative Rooftop Network to identify a ‘Forgotten Rooftop’ for transformation during our festival in March.
As the pandemic highlighted, there is a severe need for more outdoor areas and rooftops are now regarded as an important part of public space. Comprising as much as 25% of cities’ land area, they are an exciting spatial resource, which can be transformed as urban farming, social spaces, and cultural venues, for example. Through this project we hope to help create a multi-layered city through the activation of urban rooftops.
If you know of a rooftop in Belfast that is, or could potentially be, publicly accessible, we want to know! Send us your thoughts using the form below before the closing date of 2 February 2024. We’ll then work to transform the rooftop into a new green space for the festival and beyond. We will also host two cultural events from across the European Network, an artistic performance and a knowledge seminar.
