Can’t We Tackle Paramilitarism?

workshops

It is more than 30 years since the paramilitary ceasefires that paved the way towards a peace Agreement in Northern Ireland. Despite this, and despite political agreement in 2015 that there should be a proactive policy to eliminate paramilitarism, the issue has not been resolved.

WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH

6:00PM – 7:30pm (doors 5:30pm)

FREE ADMISSION

This workshop will explore a different question: If paramilitarism is now associated in the public mind with drug-dealing, coercive control and criminality – what is stopping the ending of paramilitarism in Northern Ireland?

The workshop will offer insights from research and reflections by academics but offer an opportunity for engagement and participation.

The workshop will be led by academics from Ulster and Queen’s Universities and by practitioners from Co-operation Ireland.
