The film follows two reclusive, upper-class women, Edith ‘big Edie’ Bouvier Beale and her adult daughter, Edith ‘Little Edie’ Bouvier Beale. The women are cousins of Jackie O, high-society dropouts who lived in squalor on the grounds of their decaying sprawling East Hampton estate. Their very existence in the late twentieth century feels gloriously anomalous – their lives as a vibrant archaeological relic. All these years later, the Grey Gardens film continues to inspire: whether in films, magazine covers or collectible dolls!
Join us for an evening in the Black Box as we invite you to embrace that Grey Gardens spirit with a screening of the film, a ‘best Little Edie quotes’ competition, a soundtrack of 20s-40s music and more!
“East Hampton eccentric” dress is encouraged…
Film ends 9:40pm – event ends 11:00pm. Age 18+.
