We are delighted to share the news that Mags White-O’Kane has been appointed as our new Director taking over from Peter O’Neill, who will assume the part-time role of Executive Producer. Mags, a well-known figure in the Belfast arts sector, has spent over 20 years crafting innovative arts and culture initiatives across local government, voluntary and charitable organisations. Her most recent position as Development Manager for Belfast International Arts Festival showcased her passion for pushing boundaries and driving change.
According to Mags: “I am beyond thrilled to embark on this new chapter with Imagine! Belfast at an exciting point in its history. With the support of its amazing board, audiences, partners and volunteers, I aim to lead Imagine! Belfast into a future that champions creativity, engagement and social impact. I am passionate about cultural diversity, participation, compassion and activism, and feel indebted to Pete O’Neill for his amazing legacy as Founder of the festival. I’m looking forward to bringing Imagine! into a new era of increased investment, fresh ideas and brand-new voices – bring it on!”
Our committee is looking forward to working with Mags for our forthcoming festival. Already we have booked some exciting speakers and artists such as Lemn Sissay, David Baddiel, Jo Caulfied, Erin Fornoff and Inua Ellams to name but a few. You can suggest events using our current call for ideas – the deadline for submissions is 15 November for the 2025 festival, which takes place from 24-30 March.
